Welcome to the 2012-2013 School Year!
Hello Students and Parents,
My name is Ms. Rafter and I am excited about being your new Social Studies teacher at King George Middle School.
I was born in San Antonio, Texas but grew up in and around Albany, New York, where I lived until relocating to Virginia in 2008. After graduating from Shaker High School in 2002 I attended Russell Sage College in Troy, NY where I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in History in 2006. After graduating from Sage I decided to pursue teaching at The College of Saint Rose. At St. Rose I was a dual major: Special Education/Secondary Education (Social Studies) and graduated with my Master’s Degree in 2008.
I am excited to begin my fifth year here at KGMS teaching 7th grade Civics & Economics and 8th grade World History. It is also my first year as the Special Education Department Chair. In my spare time I love to travel, read, and write fiction.
I look forward to working with all of you this year as we explore the world of Social Studies!
